About This Cartridge

A short, and hopefully fun wherigo aimed at younger geocachers. Olaf and his friends were enjoying a fun snowball fight, when Marshmallow the Monster leapt out from behind the hill. He'd been sleeping peacefully, but was woken up by the noise of Olaf and his friends. In his sleepy grumpy state he grabbed Olaf and threw his body parts all around the heartlands. Play the Wherigo and help Olaf's friends to collect all of his body parts and put him back together! Whilst the cartridge should run on a GPSr device, it has been optimised for and tested on smart phones. If using a smart phone, make sure you have a fully charged battery, and turn the volume up! Most Importantly, we hope you enjoy your time in the Heartlands!

Two hours!! That did include instruction on how to do a wherigo from RFC Colin. Without him I think I would still be Frozen!

Hmm.. I am told this logs here and to GC.com so gonna have a bash here. With some help from a fellow cacher I downloaded the cartridge to the Oregon and my phone. I was hoping to bring my daughter and Grandson out here today but their plans went awry so it was just myself and CarefreeCFC. I also downloaded the cartridge to his phone but for some reason (unknown) it refused to play ball after the first stage. Both of my devices had a hissy fit at the second stage but I think that was probably user error as we returned to the beginning, cleared the saved games and started over. Only one made it to the end but I shall explain that in a bit.

We suffered the same icy winds that are characteristic of this location.. can't wait till the hedging grows! We have both seen the film, one of us more than once and there was a little humming going on and the odd burst of riding bikes around the halls etc. The Oregon burst into life every once in a while which threw me as I have never heard anything but the odd beep previously. The pictures on the phone were great and the whole experience easier to manage through this and the larger screen.

In spite of the cold (true to theme) we made our way to and fro, this way and that way.. that Marshmallow monster hasn't half got some throw on him, poor Olaf! We managed to recover all bar one of of Olaf's body parts but then we hit an obstacle.. security are throwing us out. It seems that time is up.. at 4pm... on a Saturday! CarefreeCFC held him off as I ran around the last few bits, (hence only completing on one device - the Oregon) finally succeeding in retrieving one of Olaf's key parts. There we had it, a set of digits for the final... and locked gates in every direction. Not one to be beaten, I'm afraid we were a bit naughty and skirted around the water to gain access. It was like something out of mission impossible.. run, hide.. run hide etc. We found the final safe as houses, signed ourselves in and sneaked our way back out.

A fun cartridge, which I shall (gladly) be repeating on Friday.. I have a bet on for my daughter signing up properly to GC this year, she'll love this and my Grandson definitely will.. he is a great mini-cacher and he is well excited every time we go out.. I have been saving swaps got him to trade now. TFTC/W. Fave point awarded.

I meet Devon Maiden at silly O'clock on this cool, icy morning, before picking up Big Eddie 20 minutes later, we then made our way down the A30 to meet the other 2 at this spot. the roads were fairly clear & quiet on this Sunday morning, which helped when we met quite a bit of snow on the road. (this was mostly near Bodmin Moor. We met Red Roaming and Ky Devas at Stithians Lakes and have done that series, we're atRedruth to do this Wherigo, having done a few C & Ds on the way.
all caches signed FF, (For Famous / Fabulous Five - we are Dartmoor Deliverer, Red Roaming, Ky Devas, Big Eddie and Devon Maiden).
what a great Wherigo - I do love them. unfortunately it hadn't downloaded onto my phone properly and it said I had a fault but fortunately KD and RR's devices worked well. and when KD started to help RR I got to use her devise with Devon Maiden and Big Eddie so we got to the cache first. Brilliant. Many thanks for setting it. I suppose I got to see the film some time!

This was my plan for the day, and a thoroughly enjoyable Wherigo it is. Highly recommended, and for the full log, you'll have to go to the log on geocaching.com
If it's clear and chilly, wear gloves and a hat, as you'll end up with numb fingers like I did.
